Science

At Zetland Primary School, we believe that the best science teaching fosters and develops children’s curiosity and allows them to be inquisitive throughout their time at school.

Our aim is to teach through practical investigation as much as possible, which encourages our children to become ‘scientists’, while thinking independently and working collaboratively in teams.

For our children to achieve well in science, they will be taught specific scientific subject knowledge, and will also be able to enjoy the experience of engaging and purposeful scientific enquiry. Our children will be encouraged to make observations, while asking and answering questions about the world around them.

At Zetland, we feel it is extremely important to use our local area to bring science to life for the children. Visiting our local parks, beaches, industry etc, allows our children to explore the physical world around them first hand, while offering concrete ‘real life’ experiences.
