Design and Technology

At Zetland Primary School, Design and Technology is an important part of the curriculum we aim to prepare children for the developing and ever-changing world. It provides a variety of opportunities for our young people to design and make products that solve real-life problems within a variety of contexts by using the skills that they learn, both as individuals and as part of a team.  It is a practical and inspiring subject that promotes self-reflection, resilience and independence within our children across all year groups. Wherever possible we provide opportunities for the children to draw on knowledge from other subjects such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art.  Most importantly, these open-ended projects celebrate innovation and imagination; and encourage children to take risks. Through quality teaching of Design and Technology, our children will develop a greater awareness and understanding of how everyday products are designed, made and how they work.
